While I'm waiting for Tazy to finally send me a clear picture of the scarf I made her, here is a peek into that secret project:
The pattern was really easy to make. I enjoyed the four days of working on it, and it really went by quickly and painlessly. I really love the color of the final product. I decided to go with Charcoal yarn, which goes with practically everything in my sister's closet.

Trying on some stuff for fun
Decided to go to Anthro @ Rockefeller Center today to check out the sale. Ended up trying on some of the new dresses that came in.
Though I didn't buy any of these dresses, I did walk away with the three lovelies below for about $10 each. Yeay me!
Serengeti Sundress
Thought the dress was cute online, but definitely changed my mind once I was in the fitting room.
Oroya Dress
This dress would definitely be one that the Hubby would like since it does great things for my "assets" ... but I was very uncomfortable.
Swinging Sweetheart Dress
I tried this lovely on because it looks so parisian ... and I think Tazy would appreciate it. However, the pink top is very sheer, and I feel like it runs large.
Traced Twirls Dress
I'm a huge fan of any dress that looks like I could go swing dancing in it. I loved the pattern and the bodice, but I'm not to crazy about halter dresses. I did like the pink accent underneath.Though I didn't buy any of these dresses, I did walk away with the three lovelies below for about $10 each. Yeay me!

What I'm allowing myself
Though my goal this year is to drastically cut back on my clothing spending, I've decided to amp up one of my favorite pastimes: crocheting and knitting. So currently I'm working on a top secret project for Tazy to wear.

They're NAVY????
I've always wanted navy heels, and always felt sad that I couldn't find a pair that went with anythinig in my closet. I do own a lot of blue things, but none of the navy heels I've tried look particularly nice.
Then a couple of days ago I went shopping with my Anthro birthday coupon, and happened to find a cute pair of shoes in clearance that I bought along with a new dress for my birthday. I have a tendancy to buy black shoes without much thought, so I didn't really stop to examine the shoes I picked up. As far as I could tell, they were black.
Imagine my surprise when I read that they are NAVY! I'm ecstatic that I found a pair that isn't so blatantly blue that it doesn't go with anything in my closet.

To treat myself, or not to treat myself
As most fashionistas know, Anthropologie gives its cardholders a birthday coupon every year. With my goal of not shopping for myself, I'm kinda torn on whether to make an exception. I have already been good about not stepping foot in a clothing store for over a month ...
until today.
Just to get out of my system all the lovely dresses that I have been drooling over online, I decided to go to Anthropologie to test drive two that I liked. Here are the results:

Around the World Dress
Initially I didn't like it when I saw it in person. "That costs THAT MUCH???" was my reaction. Maybe I just don't like the look of linen. But once I put it on, I had a total change of heart. This might be the first strapless dress that I liked myself in, as opposed to a strapless dress that was just pretty on the hanger but did nothing for me.
There wasn't an angle I didn't like. [Please ignore my cords, it blizzarded today in NYC]
Manisa Dress
Ah, Manisa Dress. How I wish I could like you. But I don't. Your beautiful embroidery did not sway me. I think it was the awkward fit that did you in. Oh, and these:
I hate front pockets. They look frumpy.
