2 things I've learn so far

  • I own/wear too many dark colors [black, grey, navy, etc.] This makes taking pictures in low light really hard since you can never see the details of what I'm wearing.
  • I love my Butter by Nadia dress a little too much ... so much that I've put it on at least once a day to try a new configuration. No one has noticed I've been wearing the same dress every weekend out.

Oh so sleepy

I haven't blogged all week ... and the culprit has been sleep. My department at work has been in whirlwind preparation for the move to another floor. I have been boxing things nonstop ... and all I ever want to do when I get home is sleep. In addition, taking pictures of my outfit everyday has become a challenge since I have no one around when I have time to take a picture, and it's difficult to take pictures on my own without a tripod or someplace to put my camera to take pictures.

But believe me ... I have been sticking to this challenge even if I can't chronicle every outfit in pictures. I've also been trying to expand from the 15 items I originally picked now that I've passed the midway mark. I've been really stingy about picking clothes to wear during this challenge, and I'm trying to be more carefree for the remaining days.

Snow Days

This week has been crazy. Between my sister getting surgery, the snow storm that didn't do as much damage as expected, and my office in mid-move ... I haven't really sat down to the computer to do much leisurely stuff. Unless you count helping the hubby play Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

I did, however, try to keep taking pictures of what I wore as proof that I was sticking to my challenge.

Day 7 & 8 - taking Tazy for surgery and travel wear [I spent most of my time in pjs]

Day 6 - Taking it Easy

Polo from Aeropostale
American Eagle Jeans
Marrs Boots
Cardigan from Express

Decided to take it easy today since we are still in packing mode ... and also because I had to take the bus to visit Tazy. She's having surgery tomorrow for her knee, so positive thoughts please!

Day 4 & This looks like That

Funny ... it looks like Ruche has produced a twin to the Anticipation Heels. I guess all those people who missed out on the Miss Albright version have another chance to get heels this adorable.

In other news, there was a massive rush today at work to get ourselves organized for The BIG Move of the department to another floor temporarily. I had a lot of running around and panicking and lifting to do ... which resulted in me being covered in paper bits and hurting my feet.

It's supposed to snow tonight/tomorrow ... so there will definitely be a change of shoes in my outfits.

Day 3 - Butter me up!

Decided to finally break out the Butter by Nadia dress I originally bought for my honeymoon. This is my rendition of the Weekend in the Catskills look.

But really, this is how I wore the dress to the office after my lovely doctor's appointment.

30 for 30 Challenge - Day 1

I've decided to try out this 30 for 30 Challenge originally done by Kendi, and followed by Sara. Unfortunately, this will have to be a work week challenge since I have desi events on sporadic weekends [and it's really hard to put a kameez in the rotation or wear "American" clothes to [conservative muslim] family gatherings without being criticized].

Paper Anniversary

So I just celebrated my Paper Anniversary. For those of you who don't know what that is, it means I just survived my first year of marriage [j/k E].

My anniversary started with us getting ready for our trip to Chi-town. Here are our paper anniversary gifts to each other [or so I thought].

The airplane was really tiny, but we managed to get to Chicago in one piece. After that, the surprises started. We grabbed a cab heading into Chicago. I wasn't sure where we were heading, but my jaw hit the ground when we pulled up to the Park Hyatt Chicago.

This place is AMAZING! The lobby took my breathe away ... and then we got to the room.

There was a door in the back of the closet that opened to the bathroom ... so we could grab complimentary bathrobes direct from the closet without leaving the bathroom! We had a view of the famous Water Tower from the bed and the bathtub. I was completely floored that my usually un-romantic husband planned all this without me having any clue.

E then insisted that I get myself dolled up for dinner ... and not to worry about winter gear for where we were going. So I pulled out the special dress I bought for the occasion.

Dress: Evening Enchantment
Shawl: from my mom
Necklace & Earrings: Forever21
Shoes: Hush Puppies
Wristlet: Coach [gift from my father-in-law]

please excuse th overexposure ... E used the camera on his phone for the first time.

Then we headed out to NoMI ... omg, it is GORGEOUS!

They gave us a window seat so we could look out at the Water Tower and the lake. Very impressive. The restaurant was having a buffet style brunch special. The spread was amazing, with several different types of salads, butternut squash soup, creamed spinach, provisions, sushi bar, dessert bar ... and on top of that we got to order a brunch style entrĂ©e. E had crab cakes and I had eggs Benedict with lobster. There was also a sommelier on staff to help pick wines to compliment our meal.

Dinner was amazing, and the only thing that was missing was the slice of wedding cake.
Back-story: when we got married last year I ordered three cakes to put on display as our wedding cake: two gourmet cakes and the top layer was White Chocolate Truffle with Raspberry cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory.
So while we were sitting there at dinner I was lamenting that the Cheesecake Factory two blocks away was closed. Little did I know that E and his friends orchestrated a way to get me a slice of that very cake, and the waiter at NoMI brought it out for dessert! I was floored. And the menu from NoMI ended up being my paper anniversary present.

This was the best Paper Anniversary ever!
